The Ampersand
One of the loveliest characters concerning type is the ampersand. I remember drawing it over and over again when i was young just to figure it's exact appearance out. Though it didn't help to develop any mentionable skills, the love for it's form remains.Check out this Poster celebrating the Ampersand. And have a look at these Making-Of Flickr-Sets.
Conor & David did it!
B.t.w I'm still alive, still breathing, but currently far too much office air.

Stephen Wiltshire - Drawing Cities from Memory
During my last days in Helsinki we had a beer in the Korjaamo Bar. My ADs told me of a documentary about certain abilities autists would have. One of them was able to draw hugely detailled and complex pictures from memory.
Stephen Wiltshire has this ability. His Site features shorts documenting the process of drawing Tokyo, Hong Kong and Rome.

LEDs make my day
Just a personal quick note. Since I'm growing getting more and more into LEDs and alternative screening visualisation techniques Elementlabs is a company worth mentioning. Their products Stealth and VersaRay are built for huge screening purposes.

Pong Watch - DIY (!)
This one's incredible!
John Maushammer has built a selfmade PONG-Watch. I should work on something going in that direction as well. We've got a 3D milling cutter and a workshop for plastics at University. I was thinking about a binary watch but that's probably a bit boring since these watches are quite well known though they don't work binary. And soldering a selfmade SMD-LED Matrix looks good on the one hand but could be extremely tricky to solder.
I haven't thought about using these little screens in a wrist-watchy way yet. OLEDs (in case it is an OLED) are perfect for a use like that and they're compareably cheap. Let's see. I'll crack my old Sony Eriksson mobile open this week, maybe that one has a use.
That Pong watch looks so tempting… OLEDs here I come!
