Go for Goethe.
The Goethe Institut asked me to do a presentation infront of a group of young Asian journalists in May. Seven people coming from South Korea, China, Indonesia and Bhutan. They take part in a scholarship program that contains a 2-months stay in Cologne or Berlin at a local newspaper. During this they will also do a trip to 3 German cities: Bonn, Weimar and Munich.
And while visiting Weimar they also want to get in touch with some current projects or artists who are dealing with, "creating something new out of the traditions of Weimar". >>that's me<< And they also want to take a look at the department of media design.
Well, this will be on May, 30th.
I'll keep you in touch.

I just kind of rediscovered this awesome guy while doing some research about my the uniforms. I nearly forgot about him. I think he's a great illustrator. Lots of the things he's doing have a musical background, like shirt designs for bands. Now he started somthing like a shirtzine. It's called fullbleed.org. Including designs of the month. Some of them are pretty cool. I like it. Good ideas.
A Girl's Guide To The World Cup
Strenesse designer Gabriele Strehle, the official outfitter of the German team, has produced a coffee-table book on her countrymen. Die Deutsche Elf (The German 11) is thick with pictures of the well-dressed players shot by the Irving Penn-trained photographer Jesse Frohman. The book is available for affordable € 39,90. But only at Strenesse stores or Hugendubel bookstores. It would be fun to have look at it in real. Our guys dressed up in finest designer gown, captured in glossy black and white photos.

Audrey would have loved it.
I can't remember if I've already written something about Balenciaga's latest fall collection. If not, then now. A lot of people know that I totally adore Audrey Hepburn, especially her costumes in her 60s movies. Back then she was the muse of Hubert de Givenchy. He himself designed those wonderful outfits to be seen in "Breakfast at Tiffany's", "How to steal a Million" or "Funny Face". I found a text he wrote about this connection, how it was meeting her and working with her and also with - tada! - Christobal Balenciaga. What an incident?!

Prada news: some are and some are not.
Bad news first: it looks like that the rumors about miuccia prada doing a collection in collaboration with H&M went down for nothing in the end. That sucks.
In an interview with the New York Magazine she answered the question:
What about all these rumors about your working with H&M?
They’ve asked me. I always said no, not because I don’t like the idea, I just don’t like the idea of doing bad copies of what I’m doing. And I don’t have the time, and maybe even the ability, to do a collection with them. If you want to do a collection that costs less, you have to do it with different materials and different ideas.
Why do other people do it?
I don’t know. Because of course they’re attracted by the fame you can get. Just because you want to do something new that people talk about. I don’t know how much real interest there is in doing fashion that is not expensive but is creative.
Well. That's a pitty, isn't it? But maybe there's also a good point in it. I think, we have to respect that she doesn't want to trade quality for affordability. But... you know.
The good news: From April 19 till May 31 there will an exhibition at her Soho-Store in NYC.
"Waist Down - Skirts by Miuccia Prada"
It's more an installation and it tries to draw on the thin line between fashion and art. Which is good. I like that. And I wish I could see it.
The installation was highly successful when it showed last year in Tokyo and Shanghai. It features more than 200 skirts by Miuccia Prada... animated. In the Tokyo exhibition, skirts twirled, glowed, cast funny shadows, spread open like giant jellyfish. The Soho show will be similar, with some new displays. (Source: fashionologie.com)
If you're interessted in further information you should read this article in WWD which is about her exhibition in Shanghai.
